I am YLA, a pianist, singer, composer, and arranger. My music blends R&B, jazz, bossa nova, and Afro-Cuban music. Born and raised in Cuba in a family of musicians, I was drawn to artistic creation from an early age. My songs reflect my story and experiences, told with absolute sincerity and simplicity, wrapped in a rich mix of harmonies and rhythms.
Throughout my career, I have taken part in numerous artistic projects: films, documentaries, shows, and festivals. I have also collaborated on more than 50 albums by other artists and had the honor of working with incredible artists and groups such as Chucho Valdés et Irakere and Irakere, Michel Legrand, Steve Coleman & Five Elements, João Donato, and Buena Vista Social Club, among many others. These experiences have completely transformed the way I make music.
In 2021, I emigrated to France and settled in Rennes with my family. After a period of adjustment, I happily returned to the stage, surrounded by excellent musicians from the region.
My main project revolves around my original compositions, many of which are previously unreleased. My repertoire also includes arrangements of traditional Yoruba songs. I explore different formats, starting with the intimacy of a piano-voice and bass duo, expanding to a trio offering richer rhythms, and up to a sextet featuring an incredible selection of Afro-Cuban and local musicians.
I continue my work as a singer and arranger with the vocal group Sexto Sentido, of which I am a proud founding member since 1997. I am also a pianist with La Charanga Santa Lucía and dedicate myself to teaching piano, vocal coaching, and choral conducting.

Je suis YLA, pianiste, chanteuse, compositrice et arrangeuse. Ma musique fusionne R&B, jazz, bossa nova et musique afro-cubaine. Née et élevée à Cuba, dans une famille de musiciens, j’ai très tôt été attirée par la création artistique. Mes chansons reflètent mon histoire et mes expériences, racontées avec une sincérité et une simplicité absolues, enveloppées dans un riche mélange d’harmonies et de rythmes.
Tout au long de ma carrière, j’ai participé à de nombreux projets artistiques : films, documentaires, spectacles et festivals. J'ai également collaboré à plus de 50 albums d'autres artistes, et j’ai eu l’honneur de travailler avec des artistes et groupes incroyables tels que Chucho Valdés et Irakere, Michel Legrand, Steve Coleman & Five Elements, João Donato et Buena Vista Social Club, parmi tant d’autres. Des expériences qui ont complètement transformé ma manière de faire de la musique.
En 2021, j’ai émigré en France et me suis installée avec ma famille à Rennes. Après une période d’adaptation, j’ai retrouvé avec bonheur la scène, entourée d'excellents musiciens de la région.
Mon projet principal tourne autour de mes compositions, dont beaucoup sont inédites. Mon répertoire inclut également certains arrangements de chants traditionnels yoruba. J’explore différents formats, en commençant par l’intimité d’un duo piano-voix et basse, en passant par un trio offrant une plus grande richesse rythmique, jusqu’à un sextet avec une sélection incroyable de musiciens afro-cubains et de la région.
Je continue mon travail en tant que chanteuse et arrangeuse du groupe vocal Sexto Sentido, dont je suis fièrement membre fondatrice depuis 1997. Je suis également pianiste au sein de La Charanga Santa Lucía et je me consacre à l'enseignement du piano, au coaching vocal et à la direction chorale.
